Faculty of Sociology & Community Development

The mission of Faculty of Sociology and Community Development is to develop and apply knowledge to aid social and rural decision makers in addressing social and economic issues through integrated research and educational programs that enhance incomes and quality of life in Cambodia. Its research mission focuses on social and rural issues, the production and distribution of agricultural products, the use of natural resources and the needs of rural people.

Economics Major

The Economics Major focuses on the study of production, distribution, consumption of wealth, distribution of scarce resources such as land, labor, raw materials, and machinery to produce goods and services. Students will also learn how to do research, collect and analyze data, monitor economic trends, and develop forecasts.

The Rural Development Major prepares students to be able to understand how groups, organizations, and societies are structured in rural communities, and to analyze the problems such as crime and violence, sex and gender, families, health and illness, work and leisure, ethnic relations, religions and cultures, and social classes of rural people and their communities, rural development approaches in Cambodia, region and globe.
